Grip Sizes Explained One of the most frequent searches of the Racquet Technic website is for grip sizes. This guide from Racquet Technic explains the different grip sizes used on tennis rackets. You should be able to find the size of the grip on your racket. Players who cannot find the size on their racket will have to measure it as described. |
| Overgrips
Players who use an Overgrip will obviously increase the size of their grip. This is the reason that many players are using a racket with a smaller grip. When the grip is applied, the grip size is correct.
Overgrips do vary in size, and some of them are very thin. You should take this into account when selecting the racket size.
You should remember it is possible to increase the size of a racket handle, but reducing the size is very difficult.
Grip Sizes What is the size of your grip? You would be surprised how many players do not know the size they use. The size is normally printed on the racket shaft, or on the end of the grip. The standard format is G3, L4, and sometimes 4⅜ It is only the number that refers to the size. Each size is one eighth of an inch larger or smaller. See the table for more details.
